The Ashdod Museum of Art

The Ashdod Museum of Art, which is located at the city’s cultural center, presents interchanging exhibits of contemporary Israeli art.

The museum has been operating for 15 years and looks consistently at issues pertaining to the local identity and unique nature of the city of Ashdod — an Israeli city with a vast multicultural identity. The process took form through a number of exhibitions presented in the past few years that sought to expose and examine the sensitive nerve centers of contemporary Israeli culture. The exhibitions feature works of art by contemporary and more veteran artists, Israeli alongside international, through diverse artistic mediums.

Arranging visits for elementary and preschool students
Activities surround an exhibit that is tailored to preschool and elementary school children. It include gallery games and work with a personal box that each child receives, and offers an experience of discovery and making connections, understanding the concept of the city’s profile, a personal portrait, and a representing object. Through the belongings of the city’s residents we will experience a riveting journey to a different kind of art – audience participation art, where the audience takes an active part in a musical production. Many of the presenters in this exhibit are children, and it is a great opportunity to observe how the young audience sees itself in the cultural-urban tapestry, and what objects are chosen to best represent their personality.
