Or Yitzhak, one of the new and magnificent synagogues of the Georgian community, was inaugurated in September 2009 in the City district, where many municipal and government institutions are concentrated and Cultural Village of Ashdod . The synagogue was founded by the four sons of Yitzhak Nanikashvili, a resident of the city, in memory of their father. It is reminiscent of the Great Synagogue of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and is built in a combination of classic and modern – from columns topped with gold in the Greek style to a glass curtain wall. In the center of the marble floor is a carpet that surrounds the stage and appears to be woven from artistic tiles.
