Monart Cultural Center is an urban institution that brings together various institutions and artistic bodies, most of which are run independently. Monart Center works to promote and develop new areas of activities and interest that do not conflict with the activities held in schools and sees itself as an integral part of urban activity.

Monart Center is located in the heart of the cultural core on the beach of the city of Ashdod. The building has an innovative and unique architectural structure designed by architect Moshe Lufenfeld and interior designers Carmela Yaacobi and Hedi Hydei.

Architect Moshe Lufenfeld, in his design, thought of a friendly, non-controversial building that does not hide the landscape, and indeed, visitors to the center enjoy the beautiful seafront of the city of Ashdod during their visit.

Monart Center, built in 2000 with the support of the Hiswid Foundation and the Jewish Agency, serves as a home for artistic bodies operating in various arts fields in the city of Ashdod and offers extensive activity in various arts fields.

At Monart Center, there is a special focus on stage arts for all ages. The theater workshop area of Orna Porat National Children’s Theater at the elementary school, acting in front of the camera for youth, theater for adults, “Blended Voices” singing choir for adults, Flamenco for girls and women. In addition, in the music department, they learn and create at the Urban Conservatory “Akadma,” the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra, and the Ashdod Symphony Orchestra. In the dance department, they learn and dance at the professional Ballet School – Panov Ballet Theater and the representative dance groups “Avivim” and “Shalom Israel.”

Monart Center is a dynamic and active center throughout the week, operating continuously between 21:00 and 08:00 and even more. The center targets diverse groups and different age groups from children at the age of 3 to senior citizens. Over 1,500 people visit the center daily for courses, performances, exhibitions, lectures, events, discussion days, and workshops.

Monart Center works to promote and develop new areas of activities and interest and sees itself as an integral part of urban activity. The center is alive with art, music, and dance. At Monart Center, there are activities for children, youth, and adults in the field of stage arts – singing groups and theater groups for children, youth, and adults.

In addition, art camps are held during the summer vacation.

The performance hall at Monart Center is a warm home for the arts, with one of the goals being to carry out multi-sectoral activities to meet the needs of all city residents, with an emphasis on providing a platform for local and original creativity. We believe in collaboration and hosting young artists (singers, bands, and musicians) in projects, events, and performances in the hall in general. In addition, we hold regular art exhibitions for Ashdod artists in various fields such as painting, sculpture, crafts, and more.

Furthermore, the performance hall hosts meetings, lectures, musical performances, concerts, educational classes, stand-up comedy evenings, and more….

Monart Center values collaboration and is accustomed to implementing projects in collaboration with urban entities. In fact, Monart Center is the initiator, ideator, producer, and executor of projects such as “Green Eyes,” “Horizon” the Learning Center for Adults – lectures and performances, “Piano Forever” (musical concerts in collaboration with the Recording Department at the Municipality of Ashdod and a national competition for young piano players in collaboration with the Music Institute), Repairing the Weeks – learning in societies, a performance and lecture, “Ashdod City and Art” – a community art exhibition, photography exhibitions, rotating art exhibitions, Local Talent Festival, Certificate of Appreciation from the Mayor for promoting and encouraging art, and more….
