The Great Dune is in the Sands Park located at the southeastern end of Ashdod. The dune is almost the last remnant of the white sands of the center of the country. This wild area, which stretches between Ashdod and Nitzanim, is the last remaining remnant of the sand dunes that once covered the southern coastal plain and the only place in the country where there is a geographical continuity between migrating sand dunes and the seashore. The great dune, which borders the 14th district of the city and is located in the northeastern part of the spectacular nature reserve, rises to an impressive height of about 35 meters. This reserve serves as a home for a wide variety of wild animals, including deer, jackals, foxes, rabbits and reptiles of all kinds.
