In the center of the square, in the name of Yehuda ben Harosh, a large olive tree is planted and next to it is a statue in the form of two flames in which the letters of Yehuda ben Harosh’s name are engraved. Ben Harosh, a veteran of Ashdod, was the secretary of the city’s workers’ council for over 20 years and is considered to be the one who represented many sectors in their struggle for adequate wage conditions and stood up for the workers’ rights in their workplace.
