How do you keep a clean stream?

Waste in the vicinity of the stream may scatter and harm the wildlife there.

Nylon bags and single-use items fly in the wind, polluting the surroundings of the stream and the beach. The waste harms the wildlife. One million birds, juveniles, fish, and sea turtles die every year due to bags and plastic products in rivers and the sea.

Single-use items that are not collected and are left behind break down and become microplastics. Fish feed on tiny plastic particles, and these particles also find their way into our plates!

In addition, in recent years, the use of wet wipes has greatly increased, which are discarded in toilets. These wipes also enter the urban sewage system, and often they find their way to the rivers. All wipes, even those that “break down,” disposed of through toilets, cause blockages and serious damage to all components of the household, urban, interurban, and regional sewage system. The annual direct cost of damage from wet wipes is estimated at around 12 million shekels.

So, what can you do?

A lot!!

Simply, do not bring single-use items to the vicinity of the stream and the sea.

And of course, on the way back, take everything with you. Many animals are attracted to the waste in garbage cans, they open them and scatter their contents. So, if you can, it’s better to take the waste home with you.

Do not leave nylon bags, utensils, and food remnants next to the stream. Let’s keep the environment clean together!
