The Ecological Park at Sea Fortress – Ashdod features sea-view terraces, convenient access routes, explanatory signs about the place, and most importantly – preservation of the unique flora and fauna of the southern coastal strip, as well as educational and awareness activities for ecological conservation.

The project, led by the Ashdod Tourism Association in collaboration with the Environmental Quality Department at the Ashdod Municipality, is funded by the Ashdod Municipality and the Ramy Foundation for Open Spaces. The Ecological Park spans over 300 dunams from the Ashdod Fortress Beach to the nearby Be’er Sheva Beach, forming an ecological corridor that extends the Neitzanim Sands Reserve to the south.

Along the park’s trails, which are lined with wooden columns and ropes, shaded seating areas have been created (utilizing existing vegetation), sea-view terraces have been installed, and explanatory signs about the unique environment of the seaside and the adjacent sandy area have been placed. The access paths in the park create a circular route that starts from Ashdod-Sea Fortress Park, extends to Be’er Sheva Beach near the Leonardo Hotel, and then returns along the tourist road past the Byzantine tombs to the fortress once again.

The park was established with maximum preservation of its natural state – without lighting, and it does not allow vehicle entry or overnight stays.
